  • How comfortable are you when it comes to talking about sex?

This weirded me out.  Last night Rachel and I were talking and sex got brought up.  Not general sex.  We talk about sex in general all the time.  No, this was specific sex.  She was saying how she didn't feel comfortable talking about sexual acts.  I was surprised because I never realized we just talk about sex, not actually having sex.

She and I talk about just about everything.  So I decided to see if I was an exception to her no talking about sex rule and made a reference to back when she and I made out in October.  We didn't even go very far.  She basically came in my room, told me we were going to make out (haha, how romantic ♥), goaded me into kissing her, and than we kissed/touched, and fell asleep holding each other.  It was cute.  And it made me realize I was no longer in love with her.

Don't be alarmed.  She was never in love with me.  It was always me feeling like I was in love with my best friend.  So when she came and instigated our make-out session and then later just acted like it didn't happen I was puzzled but not upset.  To her we're just best friends that sometimes kiss.  I figured that was just what had happened.  I realized I wasn't in love with her anymore (I'll write about this further at some other time) the next time I saw her and a guy she was now kissing on.  I wasn't special, was easily replaced by a boy, and had to come to terms with that.

Anyways, I decided to make a comparison to her kissing style drunk vs. sober.  She uses less tongue while sober.  She started shifting and covered up with her blanket and tried to change the subject.  When I kept right on chattering at her to see if she'd take the bait and talk about it or get upset with me, she got upset.  Talking about sex is super taboo for Rach.  Well her own sex life.

That makes me feel weird.  I mean, we casually talk about food that gives us the shits.  How is sex more awkward than that?

So my question is, are my thoughts unusual?  Is it really taboo to talk about sex?  Or is Rach just a girl that doesn't kiss and tell?

  • Psycho in the hallways

This morning on my way to class I walked in to the school on the library side.  I didn't feel like dealing with the construction on the opposite side of campus.  As I'm navigating in the halls I almost bump into this guy who's pacing back and forth.  He's waving one of his arms wildly and all but screaming into the phone.

I kept walking, but I couldn't help hearing (as I walked up to, almost ran in to, and past him) the following snippet:

"Ahhh!  She's a gorgeous girl at college.  Of course she's going to find some other guy.
You don't understand I need to find her.  I just have to see her.
She told me if I came to campus today she'd have security throw me out.
    The UMD campus.
Can she do that?  I'm here now.
Dammit!  I need to fucking see her.  Where the fuck is she?!"

The conversation had pauses in it, presumably so the person on the other end of the phone could answer them.  I was appalled as I heard this snippet.  This guy was in an emotional state, freaking out.  Honestly he sounded like a stalker/major psycho.

I had wondered what to do about it.  If I should stop at the student information center and mention it to them, since it was on my way to class.  In the end I did nothing because I saw a security guy walking in the direction of the raving lunatic in a bright yellow shirt.

This felt like a scene out of a bad movie.  Some people are beyond awkward.  Anything exciting/scary like this ever happened to any one else on campus?

  • Religion and politics...brief thoughts. ♥

I get irritated when people spew out comments about politics that they have no base knowledge of.  These ready made opinions that they pick up from occasionally eavesdropping are just as detrimental to us as any dirty politician.  It's the equivalent of letting a high school drop out work as an engineer for NASA, things are going to come apart when the first real pressure hits.  Do you vote?  Because if you don't I don't think you have a right to bitch about politics.  Personal opinion.  And if you're a minor, hush up.  You can chatter all you want about politics.  I'm just referring to those legally allowed to vote that don't.

I get irritated when atheists attack Christianity.  If you don't believe in anything, what's so wrong with letting someone else believe in something?  So they want the comfort in knowing that one day they'll be in the next world.  Why would you try to take someone's comfort away?  You sit around being pompous enough to think you know what happens after death and not believe in anything at all.  Why are you trying to push your non-beliefs down other peoples throats??!  Quit calling Christians hypocrites for sinning.  It's an obnoxious argument that makes zero sense.  No one is perfect.  Everyone 'sins.'  To say that makes someone unchrist like is very obnoxious.  It's something that can't be helped.

I get irritated when Christians go on a crusade against atheists.  Or other Christian sects for that matter.  They march around shouting about their god and how he hates this or that and you better do this or you'll be in hell.  You know what, be quiet.  If you're going to preach you should do it from your pulpit, not my street corner.  And if you think you're trying to help the world, which I honestly think you do, try to voice your opinion nicely.  Someone is more likely going to want to walk into the church to find gods love than to run into it for fear of his wrath.  Though if you say one more time that evolution shouldn't be taught in schools I'm going to want to lock myself in my room and scream in a pillow.  Ignorance is never a good thing.

Basically I hate extremists.  The ones that want to engage in a debate not to let their minds grow, but to squash what you think.  ♥

  • My soul mate poops

New blog guys!  This is still my blog.  I don't intend to stop writing here.  But Rachel and I decided to have a joint blog so we can write about all sorts of things.

Rach wrote the first entry.  It's her opinion on euthanasia.

What's fun about this is she and I rarely agree on things.  So you'll probably get opinions that are on the opposite side of issues from both of us.  ♥
